Winevizer’s virtual sommelier recommends the right bottle to each customer based on the dishes they ordered or their taste preferences, then cross-checks with your cellar in real time. No customer is left stuck in front of a long wine list, no server needs to be a wine expert.

How the virtual sommelier works

The interface is intentionally button-driven — no free-form chat. This constraint guarantees that recommendations remain anchored in your cellar and that no LLM hallucination redirects the customer to a wine you don’t stock.

The customer starts with one of two paths:

Recommendations come with the wine’s information: grape, region, bottle image, tasting notes and food pairings. Out-of-stock wines are automatically excluded thanks to cellar synchronization with your digital list.

5 situations where it makes a difference

  1. Customers who don’t know wine — the food-pairing or taste-profile path bypasses the need for terminology knowledge.
  2. Servers in the rush — the customer can self-serve via QR code, or the server filters in 10 seconds on tablet.
  3. Couples with opposite tastes — the system suggests bridging wines (tannic rosé, full-bodied white) or two-glasses solutions.
  4. Curious customers exploring outside their comfort zone — taste equivalences across regions help discover wines they wouldn’t have picked on their own.
  5. Refined food-wine pairings — for tasting menus or strong-character dishes (asparagus, game, blue cheese), the sommelier proposes precise aromatic matches.

Why not a free-form AI chat?

Many competitors offer a free chat plugged into a generic LLM. We don’t, for 4 reasons:

What it changes for you

On establishments that have deployed Winevizer with active virtual sommelier for at least 6 months, we measure: +15 to +30 % bottles sold, +25 % average wine ticket, reduced wine-by-the-glass decision time from 90 to 25 seconds, and improved cellar rotation on mid-tier bottles.

Compatible with a human sommelier

The virtual sommelier does not replace your room sommelier. In Michelin-starred restaurants or specialty wine bars, it acts as a complement: it handles first-contact exchanges (taste orientation, basic filtering) so your human sommelier focuses on high-value questions (rare vintages, aging advice, very specific requests).

Try it on your wine list

The best way to understand the virtual sommelier is to test it on your list. Send us your wine list (PDF, Excel, photo) and we’ll digitize it in 24-48 hours, virtual sommelier included. Free 1-month trial, no credit card.
