Our favorites among the promotions of the Colruyt wine fair
Sparkling: Crémant de Bourgogne Brut– Domaine Veuve Ambal
Notes of white flowers, pears, and apples with a finish of peach. On the palate, a controlled liveliness and always marked fruity aromas. Very good value for money.
White: Mud House Sauvignon Blanc NZ – Domaine Mud House
A very nice example of Marlborough "Savvy" with notes of guava on the nose, complemented by citrus and melon on the palate. An Australian wine to discover at this price.
Red: La Dame de Malescot – Château Malescot St. Exupery
Open with woody aromas, but allowing some fruity notes to shine through, it benefits from a rich and structured body that is well persistent.
Rosé: Rosé d’Anjou – Domaine Elysis
A fruity and floral nose. Sweet on the palate, perfect as an aperitif or with Asian dishes. You obviously have to like slightly sweet rosé.
Alcohol-free wines, seriously?
You can discover in the wines of the Colruyt wine fair, the alcohol-free selection from Vintense. Vintense is the number 1 brand of alcohol-free wines and cocktails in Belgium. These are alcohol-free wines resulting from a de-alcoholization process. The process aims to completely remove the alcohol contained in an alcoholic wine, using a vacuum de-alcoholization technique.
Unfortunately, we find that the aromatic profile is not yet there, but it is encouraging to see that it is improving. The de-alcoholization technique is very interesting and will surely yield quite interesting results for our Bob 🙂
Are there good wines in large distribution?
It's hard to go against our values, we remain convinced that the best discoveries are made at wine merchants, in wine bars, at the restaurant or directly visiting the winemakers.
However, it must be noted that beautiful bottles can be found in large distribution if one takes the time to search and document. Overall, we can still observe an improvement in the wines offered in large chains in recent years.
