27 May 2022 The Mons restaurant My Tapas Bar is one of the first restaurants in Belgium to join the Winevizer adventure and digitize its wine menu.
Located on Rue des Clercs just steps from the Grand Place in Mons, My Tapas Bar is the must-visit place for lovers of Spanish cuisine, especially for tapas (dishes served in small portions that are generally shared). The restaurant invites you to enjoy your tapas seated at the bar or in the dining room with a direct view of the open kitchen where Anthony, the owner, is busy at the stove. The expertly crafted tapas menu offers only fresh products in the form of cold and hot tapas, as well as some meats.
On the wine menu side, My Tapas Bar offers about twenty Spanish wines to take you on a journey through all the styles and wine regions of Spain. You can, for example, taste wines from Rioja, Valencia, Castile, Madrid, or Aragon and let the virtual sommelier suggest wine pairings or styles ranging from light and fruity to powerful and complex. A large part of the wine list is also available by the glass, allowing you to make some discoveries and pair several tapas. The house sangria is also a must-try, and some Spanish beers can also be enjoyed.
We are therefore very happy to count My Tapas Bar among the first partners of the Mons Winevizer project. QR codes are now placed on the tables, and we hope that many of you will come to enjoy some tapas accompanied by good wines, with the help of our virtual sommelier, of course.

COVID-19 was a trigger for this change in habits. For hygiene reasons, some restaurants had removed the traditional paper wine list for a digital one presented on a tablet or via a QR code and the customer's smartphone. Today, more and more establishments have opted for this type of wine presentation. And a Belgian startup, 'Winevizer', launched during the 2022 lockdown, a practical, fun, and informative card system, using a QR code that applies directly and without installation, on the customer's smartphone.
